Stephen Wiltshire draws Tokyo from memory

One of Stephen's extraordinary abilities is to memorize landscapes up to the highest detail. During this flight he had a thorough look at the view of the Japanese capital from the helicopter including thousands of buildings, towers, high-ways, cars, buses, even down to intricate details of trees and windows. Following the 30 minutes ride Stephen seemed to be very excited and ready for the challenge.

The Savant Syndrome ... ( 1 month ago by mjag1988)
The Savant Syndrome(savantism) is the name of the disease. The causes are not yet clear. You can also search for Kim Peek, a savant, who can memorise an entire phonebook, but he's not able to tight his shoes.
Stephen is one of the less afeccted with autism of all the savants in the world.

Certainly. Autism does not come with the lack of understanding. For example Steven Spielberg too has a kind of autism. (Aspergers syndrome.)
The thing is with autists, that they process information - especially visual information - in a whole different way than us, normal people.

What a beautiful talent. This is truly amazing. I would rather focus on the person than on Savant's Syndrome - but one cannot help but applaud the amazing variations that are manifest by the syndrome.
Does Stephen also draw people?
