Sorry for the stupid question but I'm a super noob on harddisks: I've seen there are different types of ATA, like ATA-5, ATA-6, ATA-7 and so on, what's the difference and which one is the correct? Thanks alot.

I updated to 250gig. None of my packups worked. Used a reformated seagate freeagent, and a thumb drive for game saves. Version 2.53 had to be loaded fresh, install was not automatic. When I got everything right it was like setting up a neew PS3. Luckily I only had game saves.
